Abstrak
Learning obstacle (learning obstacle) is a symptom that appears in students marked by
low learning outcomes compared to previous achievements. This study aims to determine the
learning obstacles of students' mathematics in solving the odd semester problems of SMP class
VIII.
This research is a qualitative descriptive study, carried out at SMP Negeri 1 Sangganggi'
class VIII. Data collection techniques used in the form of tests, interviews and documentation.
The research instrument used in the form of odd semester questions consisting of 10 questions
and an interview guide sheet. The results of the semester questions were then identified into three
types of obstacles. As well as reduced interview results which will be presented to describe the
type of learning obstacle.
The results showed that the five respondents experienced learning obstacles based on the
results of semester answers and interview excerpts, it could be seen that R1, R2, R3, R4 and R5
experienced ontogenical and epistemological obstacles.
