Abstract

The purpose of this study is to describe the social criticism of the novel Roro Jonggrang by
Budi Sardjono and describes the implications of learning outcomes in SMK. Qualitative methods.
The source of this research is the novel Roro Jonggrang by Budi Sardjono. The form of this
research data is in the form of excerpts or fragments of discourse, dialogue and paragraphs in the
novel Roro Jonggrang by Budi Sardjono. This data collection uses reading and note-taking
techniques. The results of this study there are three forms of social criticism, first, social criticism
of crime in the novel Roro Jonggrang by Budi Sardjono there are 11 data. Second, the form of
socio-cultural criticism in the novel Roro Jonggrang by Budi Sardjono contains 15 data. Third, the
form of social criticism of poverty in the novel Roro Jonggrang by Budi Sardjono contains 9 data.
The suggestion of this research is that students can understand the description of social problems
in the novel Roro Jonggrang by Budi Sardjono which can be used as a reference, in everyday life in
the community and school environment, the contents of the novel and forms of social criticism in
the novel Roro Jonggrang by Budi Sardjono can be studied.
